Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.

Cleanse the Mind – Flush to Flourish

October 3, 2014 - Bold and Brilliant Blog, Magnificence - , , ,

This week in the Studio, The Power Word has been cleanse.

I particularly like this word because it reminds me to consider what might be weighing me down, what I need to purify, and what practices will support me to let of certain things.

So as usual, I wanted to know what that word meant to your life. I asked:

“Is it a regular practice in your life? Or should it be?”

Here was the call to communicate your thoughts…

Like many of you, cleanse makes me think of “release” and “purify”. It makes room for healthier and better things to be brought in or forward. The cleansing process for me always begins with the mind. A fresh, flourishing mind will support the other processes to occur. If your mind is cluttered (or not) well, guess what?

Another word that people often use interchangeably is detoxify which relates most often to the removal or elimination of something. So much goes in and builds up throughout the course of our lives. I often say that you have to flush before you can flourish.

Introspection:

Do you need to detoxify what is not working?

What is the importance of detoxification to you?

Self:

The following illustration shows how a toxic mind limits achievements while a great mind fosters progress:

TOXIC MIND
Thoughts

I am unsuccessful

Feelings

Sad, hopeless and unworthy

Actions

No attempt to improve circumstances

choices

MAGNIFICENT MIND
Thoughts

I can achieve more

Feelings

Hopeful and optimistic

Actions

Seek and engage in growth opportunities

Your expectations will often be consistent with your level of success. Rationalizing reasons for not pursuing and achieving what is in your story of magnificence, does little to propel your vision to a fulfilled reality.

Relationships:

Our interactions with others are one of the biggest indicators of our need to “cleanse”. What has built up throughout the course of our lives usually presents itself front and centre in our relationships. It walks with us on our journey through friendships and intimate connections. If we don’t know what we are carrying, it could take us in a direction that is counterproductive. Self-awareness is essential to detoxify and release what is not working in the way that we would like. Experiences from our families, early childhood, and past relationships travel with us every day in some way. Our choice is in the way that it influences our current life.

let go freedom“Although no one’s holding a gun to our head to get us to release pain and anger, our lives – and our happiness- truly depend on learning to let go of our pain and being able to forgive.”
~ Marci Shimoff, Happy for No Reason

This is, by no means, an easy task…but one worthy of consideration.

Career/Business:

What is in your mind has a significant effect on how you feel and what you do. When your thoughts are toxic, you feel and behave in a similar manner. It is very hard to be at your personal best in your business in this state. Somewhere along the path of living, you may have adopted a belief that you can only attain a pre-determined level of success. Often times the expectation is so embedded in your outlook that you might not have even recognized it before now. Too many mompreneurs (and entrepreneurs) accept where they are in their lives as the only possible outcome.

Thoughts that reflect optimism, gratitude, and self-value will naturally encourage your progress. You will also be more mind health for womenlikely to “act-as-if” in the interim. The advanced life you are shaping is a daily process strengthened each day. Allow the mind to be cleansed and then enriched with peaceful and purposeful elements. Magnificence is already within you. You are now establishing the conditions for the flow of energy to be released plentifully. Release what is not working and leave lots of space for the best to come marching in!

Purifying allows you to BEcome. When people ask you what has changed in your life, tell them that you have discovered the art of becoming.

When Your Best Intention Meets with “Life”

The questions most of us ask are…how do you recognize what needs to be released, pause, and let go of the debris? How do you reduce the clutter in your mind and your surroundings when a new issue, obstacle, or difficulty erupts?

  1. Remind yourself that this event involves you but is separate from you. It does not define you.
  2. Release the burden and embrace the lesson.
  3. Affirm that you are capable.
  4. Use relaxation, meditation, or spiritual practices to restore and preserve harmony.
  5. Seek to remain as clean, of the sometimes heavy parts of life, as possible. Magnificence travels light!
