Increase Your Internal Human Hard Drive (AKA Your Memory)
It goes without saying that memory is an integral part of our day to day lives. We use our memory to recall stories, to recall directions, and to remember errands we need to do. When we forget these simple things we become frustrated, confused and it even makes us less efficient in our work.
How many times have you walked across the office, or walked up the stairs and forgot what you needed to do? Then you spend the next minute pondering, trying to remember, before you go back without completing the forgotten task. How unfortunate for us that we forget so much!
Here are two quick and easy steps which you can take to try to improve your memory:
Step 1: Eat a balanced, healthy diet. Your memory is a part of your brain, and your brain (like all parts of your body) needs nutrients! Your body is like a beautiful computer, if one part is out of whack then the whole thing is; therefore, keep your body in good health by eating well. Foods with B-Vitamins, especially B-6 and B-12 are good for memory. These can naturally be found in things like meats, fish, eggs, green vegetables and potatoes. Vitamin D (found in the fish, eggs and milk) and antioxidants (found in many fruits and beans) are also beneficial for improving your memory.
Step 2: Focus on one thing at a time. In our busy lives we tend to multitask. It may seem productive, but in actuality itʼs not! If you are thinking of one thing while doing another, your attention is not fully on either of those thing. If you want to remember more, you have to live in the moment and focus on what you are actually hearing, seeing or reading. Then your brain ca properly register that information and is more likely to store it completely in your memory!
