Some people still question if power is a characteristic appropriate for a woman. They fail to grasp that women are inherently powerful. Nature has made their bodies incredibly strong so that they can carry and bring new life into this world; it has also equipped them with a great number of potent traits, such as sensitivity, understanding, intuition, and empathy so that they can thrive in virtually any undertaking they set their mind to accomplishing.
Contrary to what some people think, sensitivity is not necessarily a sign of weakness; one of its main senses is the ability to quickly notice and react to minor changes, signals, or influences; and a second important sense of the word is having or showing a quick and fine appreciation of others’ feelings. So women are in fact privileged to have this natural trait; it can help them distinguish themselves in the personal, professional, social, and political domain, since there is a strong interrelation of sensitivity, perceptiveness, and sophisticated negotiations skills, which are extremely valuable in all these domains. It is very fortunate that nowadays, more and more women dare to display this trait and show the world what they can achieve by tapping into their essential feminine power, uninhibited by unproductive criticism.
In a captivating interview for the Powered By Women Summit, author Teal Swans asserts that we live in an age in which we see the return of the divine feminine; and she also supports that feminine power is:
- receptivity,
- openness,
- softness, and
- the ability to love.
She maintains that above all, a woman should cultivate self-love. This kind of love has nothing to do with egoism. It means recognizing your worth as a woman and your right to attain personal happiness; and focusing on what really makes YOU happy instead of doing what others expect from you.
In this new era, women’s calling is to use our special gifts and talents to effect an awakening in a global community eager to absorb and apply transformational ideas; to spread the value of reconciliation, forgiveness, generosity, adaptability, collaboration, and of upholding a communal spirit. In this era, in which connections can easily be made thanks to new technology, women have greater opportunities to promote these ‘feminine’ values and make them prevail so that business interactions and practices are reinvented to the benefit of all human beings, irrespective of gender. Power is NOT a trait for men only. We are innately powerful beings.
